With the archtop construction comes the exclusion of the round soundhole. More often than not, hollow body guitars have arched tops, whereas the typical acoustic-electric is flat-topped. They differ from acoustic-electric guitars in several ways. Outside of that, there are many variables in this class of instrument. To put it simply as can be, these are pickup-powered guitars with bodies that are hollow. They have no solid center block running down the middle of the body. What is more correct is to say that hollow body guitars are, well, hollow. Nowadays, there are hollow bodies that are built as thin as solid body electrics, so it’s not exactly true to say that a hollow body is an acoustic guitar with pickups. The likeness was much more obvious in the earliest hollow body models, as these first hollow body electrics were actually archtop acoustics with added pickups.
So, now that we’ve set the terms, let’s talk about what they mean: Hollow Body Guitarsīetween the two, hollow bodies are most similar to-despite some key differences-traditional acoustic guitars. Together, I’ll call them semi-acoustic guitars. You will need the local OS Admin password to install the application. The application is bundled in a DMG file, so mount the DMG and then run the package installer within it. USB Overdrive is available from its own website here. It just happens to be a program that can be used to accomplish certain DR tasks, so we are able to help clients set it up if it can be useful for that purpose. USB Overdrive, being shareware, can be downloaded and used for free, but there will be some delays and messages regarding purchasing a license if the full version is never bought. In DR, this is used to enable the use of foot pedals with USB cameras, or to reassign the buttons on intraoral cameras to trigger the "Capture Image" keyboard shortcut in MacPractice.
